1st CHOICE TRAVEL NEWSLETTER - MARCH 2004
LAST MINUTE SPRING BREAK HOT SPOTS!
Some of the most popular spring break destinations include the hottest beaches, ski resorts and metropolitan meccas in the US. College students or families looking for a reasonably priced vacation can often find their best savings in renting a home or condominium, reducing the per-person cost considerably. Below are some our favorite spring break locales and vacation rental offerings:

Sun Valley, ID – SolFest 2004
Snowboarders, skiers, music and ‘70s garb…it must be Spring Break in Sun Valley, and SolFest 2004. SolFest is Sun Valley’s big air exhibition, held this year March 27th and 28th, just in time for school spring breaks and a farewell to winter. A Warren Miller Film festival, snowboarders and skiers exhibiting their aerial talent on a 65 foot jump and a half-pipe, a ‘70s garb costume contest and live music all make this event fun for the whole family. College students receive lift ticket discounts beginning March 6 through the end of the season.

Daytona Beach, FL
Probably no other location has become as synonymous with Spring Break as Daytona Beach in Florida. With 23 miles of sandy beaches, loads of live music and hot beach clubs, and cool pool deck parties, it's no wonder why thousands of college students flock to Daytona each spring. And when you need a break from the sun, nearby there is "Adventure Landing" water park with games and go-cart track, the ultimate motorsports attraction "Daytona USA", a number of museums, and the "Seaside Music Theater".

Santa Barbara, CA
If you want great beaches, combined with other recreational opportunities suitable for all family members, Santa Barbara is a great west coast destination. Walking and trolley tours are available in the historic downtown sections of Santa Barbara, as are museums and hands-on exhibits to learn about the local ecology and seaside commerce. Botanical gardens, farmer’s market, and Sunday arts and crafts will keep you close to town, but be sure to consider the area’s horseback riding, hiking, sailing, and whale watching excursions. The Santa Ynes Valley wine country is less then an hours drive from Santa Barbara.

Fort Lauderdale Beach, FL
Another Florida hot spot that goes hand in hand with spring break is Fort Lauderdale! Once attracting 360,000 people a year for spring break, with a new emphasis on attracting more affluent travelers including families, Ft. Lauderdale now brings 600,000 travelers of all shapes and sizes. Upscale shopping opportunities, cultural and entertainment centers, renowned golfing, and more have grown Ft. Lauderdale’s spring break clientele into a more well rounded vacationer.

Florida Keys, FL
America’s Caribbean Islands, the islands that make up the Florida Keys offers something for every type of spring breaker. Islamorada and Key West islands, known for their party atmosphere at spring break, overflows with entertainment from live bands to sports bars and comedy clubs. While Key Largo is considered the “Diving Capital of the World”, and Marathon Key retains the charm of its roots as a 19th century fishing village, the lower islands such as Big Pine Key and Summerland Key offer a break from the overcrowded and weary world.

San Diego Area, CA
The nightlife and entertainment of San Diego, coupled with one of California’s most popular beaches Mission Beach, makes this metropolitan area on California’s southern most coast a hot spring break stop. Day trips to Encinitas, La Jolla, or Oceanside beach gives the beach enthusiast plenty of beach hopping options.

San Diego based vacationers might consider extending their trip by traveling to some of Mexico’s popular northern Baja beach towns such as Rosarito Beach and Ensenada.

San Francisco, CA
Keep the mind ticking while on vacation! Families, as well college spring breakers, will enjoy the multitude of educational opportunities in San Francisco (one search returned as many as 40 museums within the city limits!). Also there are parks galore such as Tilden Park at the top of the Berkeley hills. This huge park has pony and steam-train rides, swimming, biking and nature walks. Another park option on the Peninsula is Parkside Aquatic Park. This is a great spot for sun bathing, renting a boat, and has been voted to have the best beach around for preschoolers with a roped of area about two feet deep.
