The House of the Seven Gables was built in 1885 and was originally the annex for the Sea Cliff Inn, which was one of Nantucket`s oldest hotels before its destruction in 1972. The annex was constructed during the Victorian era at a time that there was very little growth on the island. The Seven Gables is one of the few and finest examples of architecture during that period.
The House of the Seven Gables is a quiet informal inn featuring ten guest rooms. Eight of the rooms have private baths and two share a bath. The bright and sunny rooms are nicely furnished, including some period antiques. For your relaxation and comfort there is a parlor with a TV, patio (with TV), a large back yard with gardens where you can read, relax, enjoy the sun or bird watch.
